ICTs, knowledge and territorial competitive advantage

This research area tackles an analysis of the sources of competitiveness and well-being within the territory, taking into account the global process of urbanization in the Knowledge Society.

This research area sets out to analyse:

  • (11) The role that ICT, information, communication and knowledge flow plays in the explanation of territorial competitive advantage

  • (12) Territorial models of transition in the economic and Knowledge Society

  • Special emphasis will be placed on the differences between small and medium urban areas with respect to conurbation and how the networks could shape new patterns of competitive advantage and territorial well-being. In fact, the knowledge economy and society strengthens the role of networks between small and medium urban territories and which could better explain the economic development and the well-being of these territories.
